Anyone who is looking to build log houses will have to take a number of factors into consideration, namely: engineering, materials, construction and maintenance. Take care of these issues, and you will greatly increase the chances of your log houses lasting for many years to come. Just like any other type of structure, log houses will require some type of periodic maintenance in order to better withstand the forces of nature that they are constantly subjected to. And since they are made out of wood after all, they are prone to termite and wood mite attacks just as all other wooden homes are. That being said, log houses are no more at risk for insect damage than other homes made out of wood.
